Shake Off the Past! You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires. Ephesians 4:22 Memories can be painful. Far too many people live miserable lives because they allow their future to be corrupted by their past. Don't keep looking back in regret. Believers in Christ leave their old lives behind and look forward to a glorious future with Christ. Don't be like the Israelites, always looking back: "If only we had died by the Lord's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death" (Exodus 16:3). Jesus came to destroy all sins-past, present and future! He has already forgiven all the sins you have committed, so forget the past and look forward to a new day in Him. God is about to send something into your life that's about to drive doubt and unbelief out. Sorrow is no longer welcome in your life! Don't look at the past no matter if the memories are painful or seem to be better than what you are experiencing today. Look toward the future and trust in the Lord.
