Incense by Rod Parsley

Incense May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. Psalms 141:2 God loves to hear our prayers. It says in the Word that the prayers of the saints are like bowls full of incense (Revelation 5:8), a pleasing aroma to the Lord. Maybe you've been led to believe that your prayers about everyday things are too small for God and you don't want to "bother" Him. Many people justify not bringing their prayers to the Lord because they don't want to bring Him "little things." Hear me on this: He wants us to pray constantly (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and to pray about everything in our lives (Philippians 4:6). He cares about every detail! He wants us to bring everything before Him so that He can heal us, teach us, and demonstrate His love for us. Our prayers glorify Him. God treasures our prayers; each one is important to Him. He hears them all, and He will answer. Don't be caught up in a lie, believing that your concern isn't worth His time. Your prayers are precious to Him. The next time you pray, imagine your prayer as a sweet fragrance drifting up to heaven. When you come to God, you please Him, and He wants to bless you in return. Breathing Prayer:Devotions for Anxiety By Julia Attaway, New York, New York

Breathing Prayer: Devotions for Anxiety When anxiety’s got you in its grip, it’s hard to avoid worrying. But there's a technique that can help. I call it “breathing prayer.” By Julia Attaway, New York, New York Can we talk anxiety? You know what I mean: that roiling inner whirlwind, the blinding, gut-wrenching, confusion-making state of being that takes over our hearts and minds from time to time. When anxiety’s got you in its grip, it’s hard to avoid worrying about tomorrow. It’s difficult to adopt a Jeremiah 29:11 attitude. Sometimes it seems all we can do is shove our fears heavenward and hope God takes them away. I think there’s a better way. Anxiety works on a very primitive level. It has a physical component which we can counteract by applying a physical remedy. Several years ago I learned that there’s actually a right way to breathe to reduce anxiety and stress. The Harvard Health Blog calls it breath control. The technique has certain similarities with prayerful meditation, and since it’s completely compatible with faith, I personally call it “breathing prayer.” Try this: Close your eyes and inhale slowly, imagining pulling the Spirit in so fully that it fills every pore of your body. Make sure your stomach expands; you want to be pregnant with peace. Exhale slowly through your nose. You can pray while you do this (though if you’re anxious when you start, you probably won’t think of it until after a few breaths, when your head starts to clear). Simple prayers work best: While inhaling While exhaling Come Holy Spirit… fill my heart Lord Jesus… grant me your peace Lord Jesus… I love you If you practice when you’re not in the throes of wild anxiety, it will be easier to pray this way when you are. But “breathing prayer” is a good addition to any regular prayer time. Anything that clears the head and calms the body frees us up to hear God better. And that’s what prayer is all about.

A Prayer to do The Right Thing- Patty Kirk

A Prayer to Do the Right Thing “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. . . . For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28, 30 Last night, on the phone, my sister commented that God’s purpose isn’t for people to be happy. “Everybody thinks it is, but it’s not. God wants us to do the right thing.” Sharon’s bleak assessment inhabited me this morning as I dithered around trying to make myself go down to my mother-in-law’s house to wash, dress, feed, and spend time with her. Sharon’s right, I told myself. God simply wants me to do the right thing, however reluctantly. Reflecting on my mother-in-law, though, it felt just wrong. She’s always done the right thing, as far as I can tell. Sure, she has her faults. In the grocery store, she never failed to point out people who were “large,” as she put it. She herself has always been tiny. And there were other things. Mostly, though, she’s been selfless and kindhearted all the years I’ve known her. Motivated, it seems, by a keen desire to be helpful. And always cheery. Nonetheless, her mealtime prayer—the prayer she’ll pray before breakfast today—is for forgiveness: “Dear Lord, please forgive my sins. Help me do the right thing.” And even now, her brain frayed by Alzheimer’s, she seems, above all, happy. God’s purpose is that we be like my mother-in-law, I think. Reliant on His help to do the right thing. And thus, happy. Dear Lord, please forgive my sins and help me to do the right thing. Cheerfully, happily. By Patty Kirk

Getting Serious about God (3) The Word for You Today March April May

They took prayer seriously. The New Testament church was conceived in the womb of prayer. After ten days of united prayer in the upper room, "Everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:4 NLT) All the believers devoted themselves.. to prayer. It remained a prayer-conditioned fellowship. It was born, bathed, and brought to fruition in prayer. Prayer will make the hard parts of your life easier, and more fruitful. Consistent prayer lifts you to a higher, positive place where you learn how to accomplish more while experiencing a deep peace of heart and soul. Learn the unforced rhymes of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly" (Matt 11:28-30 TM). Seriously, can there be a better way to live?

A parachute prayer by Pastor Kymone Hinds

Judges 16:22-30 Roadblocks of prayering Too blessed, too busy, no time, too burden Even in the midst of Samson's folly, God still used him You can be blessed by God and not surrender to God We take for granted God's mercy Where sin abound, grace also abound In verses 6,10,13, and 15 Delilah is questioning Samson In verses 7,11,13,and 17 Samson tells Delilah how to make him an ordinary man It's never too late to pray to God In verse 28 Samson cried out to the Lord to help him be avenged.
